“I am against many of the proposals in the Joint Core Strategy (JCS).
“I believe that the JCS over-estimates how many houses we will need over the next 20 years.
“And I am opposed to building on Green Belt land and in flood-risk areas.
“Such building isn’t necessary and is contrary to government policy”.

Briefly, the proposals include four options, A,B,C and D, with Option A proposing the lowest number of houses and Option D the highest.
Option A is the least damaging. This would involve building 16,200 houses over the next 20 years in existing urban areas, brown field sites and where planning permission has already been given.
However, Options B, C and D would include building:
• 40,500 houses over the nex 20 years
• 3,100 houses between Longford and Innsworth
• 4,450 houses at Uckington
• 750 houses at Churchdown.
Building this many houses would involve building on Green Belt land and in flood-risk areas. I believe that it is unacceptable to do so.
In summer, just one of these Options - A,B C or D - will be put out for further consultation. I am pressing for that to be Option A, as it involves the least damage to our countryside.
If you share my concerns over these proposals please do respond to the consultation and support Option A.
